Fortified wines are some of our favorite styles to pair with cheese, and have a long, rich history of production. Sherry making in Spain spans 3,000 years. The Alto Douro where port wine grapes grow is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. The fortified wines from the island of Madiera can easily age for 200 years or longer.
Join Formaggio Kitchen Cambridge's Wine Buyer Megan and cheesemonger and wine expert Tom on a tasting journey through Sherry, Port, and Madeira: home to some of the world's greatest and most misunderstood wines. Learn the basics of each type of wine including the fascinating history of each, where they come from, how they're made, and how they differ from each other. From rich, sweet ruby Port to dry, salty Sherry, you will sample some of our favorite styles, and enjoy cheeses specially chosen to highlight each wine's unique qualities.
