POWDER WALKING (A WINTER HIKING SPECIAL)
It wasn't much of a winter last year, as snow was on the ground for, oh, a few hours or so, but this year has already seen its share of the white stuff, and there's a lot more of the winter to get through. So what is one to do?

THE YEAR(S) IN CASEY OVERPASS REPLACEMENT PICS

(#mbta) DE60LFR departs forest hills as 39 I definitely prefer these over XDE60

THE YEAR(S) IN CASEY OVERPASS REPLACEMENT PICS
When it comes to the Forest Hills neck of Jamaica Plain, there are two kinds of Bostonians: those who regularly have to navigate around the area, and who spend several hours a week cursing those responsible for the eternal inconvenience that's the morphing of the Casey Overpass into a "multimodal at-grade roadway," and those who haven't gone anywhere near JP since the construction began.

FIRST LOOK: CHIHARU SUSHI & NOODLE (BROOKLINE)
The Coolidge Corner section of Brookline has always been a solid area for dining out with its mix of cheap eats spots, upscale eateries, delis, and neighborhood bars, but now there are other parts of town that are becoming hot as well, including Washington Square and Brookline Village.

FLEA SCENE: A NEAR-DEFINITIVE LIST OF HOLIDAY MARKETS
The term "flea market" is lifted and true to its provenance of " marché aux puces." According to Mental Floss , the phrase was first uttered in France during the 1880s, when shoppers coined it to describe items on sale, such as used furniture, that looked as if they had become sanctuaries for said insects.

At shortly past five o’clock in the morning, a team of 12 Ludlow officers—amounting to more than a quarter of the town’s entire police force—arrived at the house of a suspected drug dealer.

SMALL TOWN SWAT TEAM: A SPECIAL INVESTIGATION INTO THE 'MILITARIZATION OF MAYBERRY' IN MASS
For a police department of only 40 officers, the April 23, 2015, raid by Ludlow Special Response Team had to be an all-hands-on-deck affair. At shortly past five o'clock in the morning, a team of 12 Ludlow officers-amounting to more than a quarter of the town's entire police force-arrived at the house of a suspected drug dealer.

GALLERY REVIEW: Annette Lemieux: Mise en Scène—Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

Show runs until 3.4.18. Museum of Fine Arts, 465 Huntington Ave., Boston. mfa.org

GALLERY REVIEW: Annette Lemieux: Mise en Scène-Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Annette Lemieux's work looks simple and spare, but it's actually quite dense stuff. The artist, who won the MFA's Maud Morgan Prize this year, is stripping iconic imagery from film and literature to its hollow, lonely core. The spacing of the pieces around the Lubin Gallery and Lemieux's rehashing of old images highlights how much alienation is encoded within them.
