I’m perplexed at the thought of the City of Boston footing the bill for the bridge and the recovery centers alone . We need to get the Commonwealth on board in this endeavor in my humble opinion . But if people are spending $1100 to $1400 a Sq/ft next door to Pine Street Inn , why shouldn’t selling off a small portion of that island for private development be on the table for what if done right could be a first in the Nation approach at addiction recovery ? We have been first at many things so let’s not be afraid to dream big?

Developer could help pay for bridge to Boston's Long Island - The Boston Globe
Mayor Marty Walsh kicked off his new term by vowing to rebuild the bridge to Boston's Long Island. The price tag? Up to $100 million. He'll use as much as $30 million in parking meter revenue. He'll consider selling bonds to raise money.

A full-service campus will meet the most pressing need we have in the fight against opioids: more treatment beds, more transitional supports and sober housing, and a more seamless “continuum of care” across the journey from detox to a life reclaimed. Too many people are relapsing because a solid next step is not there for them in time.

A new bridge to recovery on Long Island - The Boston Globe
A place of natural beauty and serenity, Long Island once played a prominent role in Boston's recovery landscape. Now it is at the heart of our next step in the fight against the opioid crisis.
