The two parcels on either side of Doughboy Doughnuts 🍩 have had their large projects approved this week by the BPDA. Projects are described in the attached article. Of note the Doughboy site is owned now by the Hotel developer. At the request of Impact Advisory Group members the two developments will pay for the redesign and installation of sidewalk widening at the “node” of Dot Ave and W Broadway surrounding Broadway MBTA Station increasing queuing space for bus stops and pedestrian flow. Along with other redesign of this intersection through our advocacy with the improvements coming with South Bay Harbor Trail and redesign around the W Broadway Hotel this block will have tremendously improved pedestrian, bike, and vehicular flow come the end of this year. http://sampan.org/2018/01/residential-developments-in-south-boston-and-east-boston-move-forward/
For all the changes in transportation technology since the first tunnels were dug — the rise of the automobile, the proliferation of bike lanes and ferries, our growing addiction to ride-hailing apps and dreams of a future filled with autonomous vehicles — the subway remains the only way to move large numbers of people around the city.
Another five star ⭐️ day on the T. Probably from the cold. Oh wait, right.
We better get going building some workforce housing along Dorchester Ave because the high [aying jobs keep coming.
