Mayor Marty Walsh announces plans to expand the #BoSTEM after-school program through a $4M grant awarded to United Way of Massachusetts Bay from the U.S. Department of Education. United Way, in partnership with Boston Public Schools and Boston After School & Beyond, aims to serve 10,000 Boston youth over the next 5 years to increase #STEM learning opportunities and to prepare them as future leaders in Boston’s workforce. The announcement was made yesterday at the Mario Umana Academy in Boston. United Way of Massachusetts Bay has selected the very best partners to work with on this tremendous opportunity, including: Breakthrough Greater Boston, Citizen Schools, CitySprouts, Community Boat Building, Latino STEM Alliance, MGH Center for Community Health Improvement, Sociedad Latina, and Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center.
