First Snowfall

The first snowfall over the weekend left Beacon Hill looking like true winter scene as snow hung from the trees and motorists had to remove the snow from their cars. Boston received between 3 to 4 inches of snow.

    Tower May Soon Sit Over Garage on Stuart Street
    The Los Angeles based CIM Group plans to build a residential tower on top of the existing Motor Mart Garage located at 201 Stuart Street in downtown Boston. The tower is currently planned to be 278 feet tall, and if built would be higher than the proposed 212 Stuart Street tower across the street at 199 feet.

    During the Beacon Hill Holiday Stroll on Thursday evening, Black Ink was named the first-place winner in the 2017 Charles Street annual Storefront Decorating Contest. The shop at 101 Charles St. specializing in greeting cards, stationary and unique gift items took top prize in the competition sponsored by the Joint Charles Street Committee of the Beacon Hill Civic Association and the Beacon Hill Business Association.

For those of us living on Beacon Hill, the gas street lights are part of the charm of this historic neighborhood.  For most of the year, these black poles remain a throwback to a quaint earlier century.

However, during the holidays, these poles are transformed into beautiful ornaments as garlands and red bows are placed on the more than 1,100 street poles.

MassDOT will implement overnight lane closures on Storrow Drive east and westbound in the vicinity of the Longfellow Bridge through Friday, December 15. Single lane closures will be from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM and double lane closures will be from 11:00 PM each night until 5:00 AM the following morning.
