What does the future of the Catholic Church look like? Today's Hispanics are building foundation, writes Boston College School of Theology and Ministry Prof. Hosffman Ospino in America Magazine - The Jesuit Review.

10 ways Hispanics are redefining American Catholicism in the 21st century
The Immigrant City. This is how many know Lawrence, Mass., a town in New England with a population of about 80,000. Perhaps the most appropriate name for Lawrence is The Catholic Immigrant City. Not long ago it had 15 Catholic churches, none of which was established to serve Hispanics.

Some residents have pushed for ground-level r...

Some residents have pushed for ground-level reconstruction, arguing that it would lower this barrier, reduce noise from vehicles revving uphill, and allow for more development in the future by creating decks over the roadways — while being the least costly of the three. “It just unlocks all these things,” said Harry Mattison, an Allston resident and member of a neighborhood task force working on the highway design. “Even if they’re not done as part of this project, they could still be done over time. But once you build a new highway viaduct, it’s there forever and you can never improve it.”

Mass. Pike project in Allston to cost $1 billion or more - The Boston Globe
A mammoth highway project that would dramatically reshape the Massachusetts Turnpike in Allston and affect the commute of hundreds of thousands of motorists will move forward and likely break ground in 2020, state officials said Monday.

"Nature's Mirror: Reality and Symbol in Belgian Landscape," an exhibition curated by Boston College Art, Art History, and Film Department Prof. Jeffery Howe, is one of three on view through December 10 at McMullen Museum of Art, Boston College. Read a review of the exhibition in The Boston Globe.

At BC, Belgian landscapes from five centuries - The Boston Globe
Fernand Khnopff was a melancholy man. You can sense it in the aching stillness that envelops his landscapes. Sturdy farm buildings trapped under gray skies feel distant, at once longed for and gently forbidding. Pieces by the Belgian Symbolist, who worked in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, come near the end of "Nature's Mirror: Reality and Symbol in Belgian Landscape," up through Dec.

"Seeking to stem the tide of investors, Harvard [has] set aside $3 million of its community benefits package to support the All Bright Homeownership Program, an initiative to buy up homes in the area and resell them to homeowners with an owner-occupancy deed restriction, meaning that the buyer must live on the property. The program, implemented with the Allston Brighton Community Development Corporation and the City of Boston in 2015, has so far sold 13 housing units to homeowners. #homeownershipmatters

Today, we pause to celebrate and remember those who have served our country. Our newly redesigned Boston College Veterans Memorial website helps us honor those Eagles who made the ultimate sacrifice. Each veteran has a page, which shows his class year, military rank, and branch of service. Where available, there is also information on date of birth, hometown, military awards and decorations, and date and location of death. Some of the pages also have links to photos and images of documents and articles. For those on campus, our annual Boston College Veterans Remembrance Ceremony today begins at 11 a.m. Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio '73, who serves as the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA will be the speaker. He will preside and deliver the homily at the preceding Mass, which will be held at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church. BC Jesuit Community Rector Robert Keane, S.J., part-time Philosophy Department Boston College faculty member Paul McNellis, S.J., and Jesuit Community member John Monahan, S.J.—all veterans—will concelebrate the Mass.

Boston College Center for Work & Family Executive Director Brad Harrington comments in the The New York Times about how millennial parents—let's call them 'parennials'—are challenging commonly held beliefs about the American family.

But while the rest of society has been busy hating on millennials, the older ones have been busy growing up, settling down and having children. More than 16 million millennial women are now mothers, according to Pew, a number that grows by more than a million every year.

Did you know that a new Netflix series about profiling serial killers has a BC connection? Psychologist Dr. Wendy Carr, one of the main characters in the series "Mindhunter" is based on Boston College Connell School of Nursing Prof. Ann Burgess, a pioneer in the study of victims of trauma. Burgess' collaboration with two FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation agents beginning in the 1970s led to the agency's behavioral science method of profiling violent criminals.

How Netflix's Serial Killer Drama 'Mindhunter' Draws From Real Life
Four decades ago, FBI special agents John Douglas and Robert Ressler began a bold new research project alongside a Boston crime victim expert named Dr. Ann Burgess. Burgess, now a professor at Boston College's Connell School of Nursing, thought the agents' access to crime scenes and incarcerated killers presented a "phenomenal" opportunity for research, she told HuffPost.
