Many in the Association felt very disappointed at being left out of the conversation, particularly after having just mended fences with the New York Streets area and National Development two months ago following a few years of separation.

“I’d walk down the hall and get called ‘faggot’ by some folks. That’s the work environment.”That’s how P&G veteran and LGBTQ activist Michael Chanak remembers working at the company’s Cincinnati headquarters back in the 1980s. “

“Any type of new programming, and especially plans for a licensed alcohol establishment, are typically announced to the neighborhood for a vetting before going public. In this case, it appears that didn’t happen because the beer garden would be on state land, not City land, said Old Dover President Ken Smith.” Not checking in with the neighborhood groups that helped force his open space to happen and outlined recommended uses is a mistake. When will they learn that keeping in touch and keeping folks informed will get them further every time.

An uptick in complaints to property managers ...
An uptick in complaints to property managers and lawyers about pot smoke quite clearly shows the unhappiness of some neighbors and condo boards. Consider the issues coming into the Chelsea offices of the Lundgren Management Group, which manages about 40 condo associations in Greater Boston.

Boston Transitions to Renewable Energy

Carbon Free Boston was launched in 2017 to help the city become “carbon neutral” by 2050, in Mayor Walsh’s words. Even more recently, Boston was named one of the top energy forward cities in the country. Ranking at number seven, Boston has a lot to offer Mother Earth.

But how? And how can we help?
Massachusetts, fondly known as taxachusetts to residents, also provides solar power tax incentives. Net-metering, a popular and very lucrative tax incentive for solar power, is available in the Bay State. Eversource and National Grid are two companies that provide this incentive to residents where the utility companies send credits for the energy sent back to the power grids. Having a variety of solar powered tax incentives as well as vehicle incentives factors in to Boston’s ranking on the list of energy forward cities.
If we are going to prevent additional climate change, environmental damage, and encourage the use of cleaner energy, we need to be involved in city-wide efforts. Of course, educating yourself on the current status of energy usage and reporting in your area is a great place to start. Greenovate maintains Boston’s historic sites, buildings, landscapes, and waterways as well as working to implement Mayor Walsh’s policies on sustainable development, climate protection, and the environment. Not to mention, that’s on top of providing resources for locals as to how to get involved with these projects. This list of local sustainability events is a fantastic place to start.
Additionally, you can report your building’s use of energy and water. You can then share the portfolio with the city.

Bostonians are working together to decrease the future impacts of environmental damage. This #BostonStrong effort is already making a positive change.
