Since 12/6/17 to present, Brookline has experienced seven (7) building fires: 12/6 400 Heath Street Pine Manor College natural gas fire in mechanical room in educational occupancy 12/23 33 Abbotsford Road fire in fireplace extended to structure in residential occupancy 12/28 1025 Beacon Street boiler overheated igniting structural members in close proximity 12/30 55 Village Way second alarm fire in penthouse mechanical room, heavy smoke condition throughout building with extensive evacuations in high rise residential structure 12/31 93 Centre Street overheated electrical box in ceiling ignited structural members in residential occupancy 12/31 134 Babcock Street second alarm fire in residential occupancy caused by thawing pipes 1/5 1038 Beacon Street fire in vacant basement commercial/mercantile unit under renovation Chief Ward thanks the members for their dedication these past few weeks enduring bitter cold temps and shoveling out hydrants with any spare time.
