Allston Brighton CDC added an event.

The billion-dollar reconstruction of the Mass Pike Allston interchange is coming! MassDOT's plan is highly auto-oriented, with a new highway and major roads built first and bus and rail projects deferred to the future. We all know our neighborhood is already drowning in traffic. It will only get worse unless big transit improvements come soon. On Dec. 5th, join your neighbors for an introductory overview of the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the Mass Pike Allston Interchange. Come learn of what MassDOT has planned for the neighborhood and how these plans will impact your transit options and quality of life. There are limited opportunities remaining for residents to voice their concerns on this neighborhood altering project, don't miss out!!

Some residents have pushed for ground-level reconstruction, arguing that it would lower this barrier, reduce noise from vehicles revving uphill, and allow for more development in the future by creating decks over the roadways — while being the least costly of the three. “It just unlocks all these things,” said Harry Mattison, an Allston resident and member of a neighborhood task force working on the highway design. “Even if they’re not done as part of this project, they could still be done over time. But once you build a new highway viaduct, it’s there forever and you can never improve it.”

Mass. Pike project in Allston to cost $1 billion or more - The Boston Globe
A mammoth highway project that would dramatically reshape the Massachusetts Turnpike in Allston and affect the commute of hundreds of thousands of motorists will move forward and likely break ground in 2020, state officials said Monday.
