A week of events in Cambridge, Somerville: Dance festivals, local authors and dada art

Dance for World Community Film Festival begins, with showings at 5 and 7 p.m. daily through Wednesday at The Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle St., Harvard Square. Admission to each film is $10.

Romance novel talk with “The Wedding Date” author Jasmine Guillory from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Oberon, 2 Arrow St., Harvard Square. Tickets are $8 (for standing room) or $10, and add a dollar for online service fees for this 18-plus show.

World Qualifier Finals at the Boston Poetry Slam from 7:15 p.m. to midnight at The Cantab Lounge, 738 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square. Free.

    After fall from nest, great horned owlet finally takes flight in Fresh Pond
    Birders and photographers alike have been immersed in a drama over the last month at Fresh Pond, in which a great horned owlet has been fighting for its life after the death of its sibling.In early March a pair of great horned owls, believed to be the same pair that successfully mated in Fresh Pond last year, had two owlets.
