    The American Red Cross has opened shelters in areas of Massachusetts after two punishing nor'easters pounded the state. The Red Cross shelter locations are: Lowell - 276 Broadway St., at the Lowell Senior Center Newburyport - 40 Water St., at The Salvation Army facility The Red Cross is also staffing Recovery Resource Centers in Quincy on Friday and Marshfield during the weekend for those impact by flood waters from the storm.

    Recovery centers open to help flooding victims
    Owners of homes that were flooded or damaged during the nor'easters can seek assistance at two resource centers, which bring together various charities and state organizations. Deborah Lawton, of Quincy, said the first nor'easter left about 4 feet of water in her basement on Friday, soaking her daughter's belongings and destroying the home's brand-new water heater "It's very overwhelming," Lawton said.

    As the second nor'easter moves out, the state of Massachusetts will open resource centers to provide help to residents of coastal communities that were devastated by the storms. The centers will help residents connect with state and charitable resources, including volunteers who can help to clean out damaged homes.
